“A Merry Christmas to all.” from the December 25, 1862 Door County Advocate
A Merry Christmas to all.—We were this week most agreeable notified of the approach of jolly Christmas, by the reception of a fine fat turkey, as a Christmas, gift from neighbor Chapel, of Forestville. Many thanks, friend Chapel, for the seasonable and kind present, the sight of which made our better half think of the good old times in York State where large farms and turkeys, and all the nice fixings, are plenty as blackberries. If we will have patience and perseverance, a few more returns of Christmas will see all these things in Door County. This is Christmas day, and we heartily wish all our readers and friends many happy returns of the day.
