Area musicians to participate in UWGB concert choir Oct. 26
Five vocal soloists and three instrumentalists will perform with the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Concert Choir Wednesday, Oct. 26 in its first concert of the season. The program by the choir and Vocal Ensemble begins at 8:15 pm. in the UWGB theater.
Singing solo parts in Dietrich Buxtehude’s “Magnificat” will be Judy Jones and Paul Fretheim of Sturgeon Bay.
Others from Door county participating in the concert will be Crystal Hogan, Ellison Bay, Cindy LeRoy, Brussels, Sue Carole Volovske, Forestville, and Barb Johnson, Joe Klapatch and Paul Klapatch, all of Sturgeon Bay, Hogan, Jones and Paul Klapatch are members of the vocal ensemble as well as the concert choir.
Trinidad Chavez leads the choir of 56 voices and Marlys Trunkhill is director of the 16-voice Vocal Ensemble. The program will also include works by Hans Leo Hassler, Jean Breger, Ginastera and Copland as well as English madrigals, German art songs, a Janequin chanson and sacred works by Vaughan Williams.
Tickets for the concert are on sale at the theater box office at UWGB and will also be available at the door.
