Births for Door County, starting in 1871
Figures older than 1990 had to be compiled from various government documents. From 1990 onward, the data is from the WISH, the state health department’s Wisconsin Interactive Statistics on Health system. For years where “births by residence” were reported separately from the “by occurrence” figures, only the “residence” figures were used.
This may continue to be revised due to errors or better documents turning up. A list of urls for the documents used to make this graph is available on request.

The total fertility rate of Menominee County is about twice that of Door County, so the two make a good comparison. Menominee County was founded in 1959, and the earliest annual vital statistics reported in the Wisconsin Blue Book are from 1961:
