The estimated cost range for the Sturgeon Bay and Lake Michigan Ship Canal breakwater repair has increased

When I wrote about this topic in 2023, https://doorcounty.substack.com/p/ship-canal-breakwater-to-be-repaired, the repair was supposed to cost between $1 million and $2 million.

Now, the cost range at https://lre-ops.usace.army.mil/OandM/GLNAV/Contract_Information/AdvertisementSchedule.pdf#page=4 has been boosted to between $1 million and $5 million. IFB is for “Invitation for Bid”.

The 2025 budget request from the Army Corps of Engineers asked for an estimated total of $14,000 to pay for operation and maintenance on the Sturgeon Bay Harbor and Lake Michigan Ship Canal, but the Senate Committee on Appropriations is recommending $2.191 million instead: https://www.appropriations.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/fy25_ewd_senate_report.pdf#page=45
