“County wide ambulance looks good” from the December 23, 1974 Door County Advocate
County wide ambulance looks good
The county board tabled a motion calling for a county-wide ambulance service at Tuesday’s meeting but board chairman Tom Herlache indicated this Monday that the system would go into effect on or about Feb. 1, 1975.
The Casperson Ambulance Service in Sister Bay is expected to provide service for the northern end of the county until that time although its termination date had been set for Dec. 31, 1974.
Alternative solutions to the problem were being sought from private ambulance owners but Herlache said most supervisors favor a county-wide plan. The difference in cost would be negligible.
Advertisements for drivers willing to take Emergency Medical Training courses have been authorized.
In other board action, supervisors voted unanimously to accept a new ambulance from the Fort Howard Paper Foundation and gave Sheriff Hollis Bridenhagen a vote of thanks for his role in obtaining this gift.
The board also appropriated $7,000 to Bay View Terrace, Inc., for its housing project. Ground breaking is set for Jan. 3, 1974.
