Decorates Grave of Unknown Soldier
One of the most prominent decorations on the grave of the unknown soldier Armistice Day was a 4-foot cross of evergreens from The Ridges at Baileys Harbor, sent by two local ladies who do not care to reveal their identity. The cross was made by one of the donors and was placed on the east side of the monument, opposite from a wreath from President Roosevelt, at the direction of Miss Lucille Reynolds, formerly of Jacksonport, who is supervisor of the home management unit of the Rural Resettlement division of the Resettlement Administration at Washington.
A picture of the cross, taken by a photographer engaged by Miss Reynolds, is shown here, towering above bouquets of flowers.
