“DOOR COUNTY BEAUTIFUL”.
———
Is Motto That Will Be Given Guide and Directory to Be Issued By Parkway Association.

WORK IN HANDS OF A COMMITTEE.
———
This is the motto selected by Mr. Hatch for the booklet which the Park and Driveway Association are making preparations to have published.
Members of committees representing the Commercial Club, the Sawyer Development Club and the Association met at the library rooms on Friday evening to discuss the subject. Mr. Hatch is having a map of all the roads in the county drawn by A C. Greaves, C. E., a copy of which was presented to the meeting for inspection and criticism, so as to bring out any suggestions that would prove beneficial and which could be added before the work is closed. The map will certainly prove of great value, not only to the tourist, but likewise to many people who have made their homes in the county all their lives. It contains every road within the boundaries of the county and shows exactly where they lead to. For the purpose of identification it is intended to put the school houses and churches and an occasional cheese factory or prominent residence on the map to enable the traveller to locate himself in case he should become confused as to his whereabouts. The villages will also be made a prominent feature. Commercial orchards will have a distinguishing mark on the map, but there will be no section or other lines except the highways.
It is also the purpose to make this guide a directory of Door county, in which all the leading features will be touched upon, such as its industrial and commercial importance. Fruit, fisheries, quarries, agriculture and dairying interests will be described. Its fraternal, social and beneficial organizations will be published, giving the names of the secretary and the number of the members belonging to the order wherever it may have a lodge in the county, so that the traveller can look it up if he so desires. It is the wish of the Parkway Association that this data be sent to the secretary by the secretaries of all the numerous organizations of the county. The names of the hotels and manner of reaching them will likwise be given for the benefit of the tourist.
The manner of financing the printing of this information and number of booklets required has been referred to a committee consisting of Wm. A. MacEacham, E. M. LaPlant, and James Martin. The cost of getting out the map is paid by Mr. Hatch as a present to the Association. It was suggested that firms who desired to advertise their business should purchase as many copies of the guide, as they saw fit and cause to be inserted a page, or a card, informing the recipient that the booklet was sent them by the company with its compliments. It is desired not to cheapen the work by too much advertising, but in the manner suggested this objection would be eliminated.
Of course the beauties of the county as a place to spend a few days on an [?] will be plainly and truthfully set forth. That there will be a great demand for this booklet there is no doubt, and anyone receiving a copy will certainly feel under obligation to the sender.
