How did you observe July 4th?
Andre Jirovetz, Bay Shore Dr., Sturgeon Bay: “We observed July 4th in the north woods at Big Crawling Stone lake. It was a very relaxed atmosphere with few people around. We also took the kids to a parade at an Indian reservation and they had a chance to see the Indians dance.”
Pauline McFarland, 511 N. 4th Ave.: “We went to the parade in Baileys Harbor and I think all of Door county must have turned out for the parade. I really enjoyed the whole day.”
Bob Hunsader sr., 722 Georgia: “I went to the Alpine and got good and wet, saw a lot of softball games and then enjoyed a family picnic in the back yard.”
Fritz Van, 522 Michigan St.: “I rested up for the Monday night races at the Door County Speedway and then I went out to announce the races Monday night. I just barely got on the PA system when I was greeted by a tremendous downpour. The races were postponed until next Saturday. I then got completely drenched, went home and changed and then went out for the evening.”
Ann Nagle, Bailey’s Harbor: “I spent the day with just me and my family. We spent part of the day on the beach and then in the evening watched the fireworks at Baileys Harbor. We live in Chicago but have a cottage up here so we also spent part of the day doing some work around the cottage.”
John Ackermann jr., Sister Bay: “As the Resorter Reporter I had to work on July 4th because everything that happened this weekend happened on Monday. I went to the Baileys Harbor parade and then spent about six hours in the darkroom at the Advocate.”
Blanche Jeanquart, Brussels: “I spent part of the day staying in and taking a good long nap. When you live on a farm you don’t get a whole day off but we did take part of the day off and had a nice visit with our neighbors.”
