Makes flower portraits in 3D

Door county wild flowers are reflected in three dimensional miniature portraits on glass by Sallie Woods of Kirkwood, Mo.
Sallie, visiting Mrs. Richard. D. Chomeau at her Fish Creek home, has spent many hours in study of local flowers and will spend a week in further study at The Clearing soon.
Her handiwork is available in the shops of several St. Louis decorators and she hopes to find an outlet in Door county. Several years of art study, including assistance to a Missouri sculptor, preceded her current interest in the flower renderings.
One of her teachers was Vladimir Roussef who assisted in the design and execution of the Boynton chapel at Baileys Harbor.
Her flower technique is one of painting successive layers of the flower petals and leaves on separated layers of glass to produce the depth and lifelike effect. Standard oil paints are used and fine brushes plus a sensitive touch are required. The result is a crisp looking, yet subtle colored product.
