MARK THE HISTORICAL SPOTS
The suggestion made by H. R. Holand to organize a Door County Historical Society for the purpose of gathering information and marking historical spots in Door county is one that should receive unanimous support, and it is to be hoped that some action will be taken. Door county is rich in historical spots, both in the north and southern portion of the county, and the principal spots should be marked by some kind of a monument or tablet, giving information to both residents and visitors.
A county that was visited in the early days by such noted discoverers as Nicolet, Perrot, LaSalle, Solomon Juneau, Fathers Allouez, and Marquette, certainly should have pride enough to preserve the historical spots visited by these men, by erecting monuments and tablets with a brief inscription of dates and events. Many people from other states who have become interested in Door county are also interested in its early history and are willing to lend their aid financially toward a historical organization.
