“What do the first warm days of spring make you think of?” from the May 2, 1978 Door County Advocate
What do the first warm days of spring make you think of?
Elsie Harding, Ellison Bay: “The first warm days of spring make me think of house cleaning, gardening, raking and joie de vie (the joy of life). Another big thing that I love in the spring is coming home from work at the hospital at night and standing out looking at the marvelous stars and listening to the crickets and frogs and night animals. I just love that special sound of spring.”
Amanda Cornette, Forestville: “It makes me happy to be outside, working in the garden and cleaning around the place. In general the coming of spring is a nice feeling.”
Virginia Nelson, Washington Island: “Flowers. I like to get out in the garden and work and when spring comes I can do that. I love spring and summer better than winter so I’m always glad to see it come.”
Joyce Schack, 4764 N. Bay Shore Dr.: “The coming of spring to me means lots of work outside in the yard and the orchard. It is also a time to get my flowers ready.”
Clarence Shampoo, Egg Harbor: “I always enjoy the first warm days. I like to get outside, it makes me think of lots of things like the work I should be doing. Early spring makes me think of gardens and spring planting, green grass and also weeds.”
Rose Feldt, Egg Harbor: “That summer is finally on the way.”
