“What do you do to beat the cold?” from the January 10, 1978 Door County Advocate
Linda Adams asks
What do you do to beat the cold?
Lyle DeBroux, R. 1, Brussels: “I guess I bundle up as good as I can in my snowmobile suit and try to stay warm when I’m outside.”
Sandi Larson, 805 Pennsylvania: “I always make sure I wear a hat on my head because you lose a large percentage of heat from the top. I also bundle up and drink lots of hot tea. And you might as well grin because you can’t do anything about the cold anyway.”
Julie Taylor, 1406 Memorial Dr.: “I think you’d better stay inside and build a fire in the fireplace and hope you don’t have to go out if you want to beat the cold. I’m avoiding going out in this cold weather.”
Penny Willems, Sister Bay: “I stay in the house. I don’t go out unless I have to and then I bundle up warm.”
Carol Sebastian, U. S. Coast Guard Station: “To beat the cold I dress very warmly and run from the house to the car when I have to go out. I also try to stay in as much as possible.”
Denis Bay, North Lake Michigan Dr.: “Why beat it? There isn’t much you can do to beat the cold except grit your teeth and hate it.”
Kay Lardinois, R. 5: “I have a heater sitting under my desk at work to keep my feet warm. Before that I typed with my mittens on and then my boss caught on and bought me the heater.”
Bertha Anderson, 416 Ironwood: “I keep the thermostat turned down and put on a sweater. When I have to go out I get from one place to another as fast as I can.”
