“When you get the Advocate, what is the first thing you read?” from the May 24, 1977 Door County Advocate
When you get the Advocate, what is the first thing you read?
Bill Kletzien, 30 N. 7th: “I read the headlines on the front page and then the headlines on the sports page.”
Helen Mueller, Fish Creek: “I first look at the front page and all of the headlines and then I look over the advertisements and the grocery ads.”
Gloris Arndt: “I like to read all of the news. I also read some of the sports, especially when my grandchildren are mentioned.”
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hartwig, 232 N. 5th: Mary—“I’ve been reading the Advocate for years. I always read the front first.” Jack—“I like the classifieds and the advertisements and also the Here N’ There.”
Harry Russell, Maplewood: “I always start at the back and my wife does the same thing. We read the advertisements and the rest of the paper. I like all of the news.”
Lee Ginsberg, Memorial Drive: “I read the Advocate from cover to cover like a book. I especially like the editorial page and all of the columns on the page.”
John Lawrie, 731 Kentucky: “I usually read the front page first to see what’s happening in the county and then I read the sports section.”
Frances Waters, Baileys Harbor: “I read the whole Advocate. I start at the front and work all of the way back to the last ad. We are from Florida and only spend part of the year in Door county so we enjoy reading all of the paper because it keeps us abreast of what is happening in the county.”
Janet Halverson, Ephraim: “I always look to see if Roy Lukes’ column is in and then I just glance around at the other stories.”
